Here we are in the End Times, and the rise of Islamic extremists under demonic influence is growing. The world calls it “terrorism” and rightly so; terrorists take actions that instill fear in people. ISIS, at the time of this writing, just killed 30 people in the street, one by one, to let people know what will happen if they don’t submit.
FEAR is the tool of Satan and all of his minions. Fear is the opposite of faith, and the most dangerous spiritual attack method there is against us. It can be as obvious as murders in the street as we have just seen, or as sneaky as worry over something that might happen and could only have minor consequences if it did happen. Either way, it affects you negatively.
I know many people look at Halloween as harmless and don’t understand why some Christians make a big deal about it. Well, let’s look at the tolerance to the terror this celebration causes. Today, just two days from Halloween in New York, a man beheaded his mother, and then drug her body into the street and reportedly kicked her head down the road. People who saw this were numb to what was actually happening; they thought it was Halloween stunt!
People’s senses are so hardened to blood and terror by Halloween, horror movies and television, they could not discern the fear and danger that was really there. They may not have been able to save the mother’s life, but they could have taken steps to have the son quickly apprehended.
All the details of this is not out at this time, but the killer jumped in front of a subway train to commit suicide. If people would have acted, his life might have been saved, and then he would have had the opportunity to be delivered and receive Jesus. However, Halloween and its influence may have caused him to go to hell without hearing the Gospel. The Halloween influence I am speaking of was the lack of response of those watching and thinking it was a prank. The Islam beheadings in recent times certainly must have influenced the killer.
Death is wrapped up in the celebration of Halloween and take note of how death is celebrated by Islam. They rejoice over the death of their enemies. They even rejoice over being a suicide bomber, expecting a big party when they meet Allah. But recall, it is the spirit of death that empowers the rider of the fourth horse in Revelation 6:8.
As Christians, we are to have no affiliation with death, but are to oppose it fervently. God, through Moses, put before us the choice of life or death, then told us to chose LIFE. When we accept Jesus, we are given eternal life. As Dr. Sutton used to say, when death comes, “we blow a hole right through it!” We bypass it and go straight to be with Jesus until He and His army (that’s us) come to the earth again.
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers:for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel (II Cor. 6:14-15).
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them (Eph. 5:11).
If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth (I John 1:6).
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil (Eph. 4:26-27).
Abstain from all appearance of evil (I Thess. 5:22).
Don’t be taken in by Halloween, no matter how differently you think you celebrate it–you are giving it a voice and finances. One reason Halloween is still so big of a celebration is because of the Church! Look at all the church events on or around Halloween, “Substitutes for the kids.” (Kids don’t need a substitute for death. They need to be told to choose life!)
These events are the biggest events of the year for a lot of churches. This ought not be so! What happened to Easter and Christmas? The reason for Halloween’s popularity is because most people take their kids to these church events, knowing that they are safer there than trick-or-treating. If the church would stop having these events , then Halloween would fade out, yet instead, we enhance its presence.
This is something for us to think about as we strive to live holy lives in these End Times. Remember, the word “holy” means “set apart,” and it is something we are responsible for doing. I call you blessed and pray this will make you talk to the Father about this ungodly celebration called Halloween.
